Questions students actually ask.

Grouped by where you are in the process. If yours is not here, the helper in the corner reaches a counsellor within a working day.

CHOOSING

Is counselling really free?

Yes. Shortlisting, applications, SOP review and visa filing for partner universities cost you nothing. The only paid service is premium counselling, and it is optional.

How do you get paid, then?

Partner universities pay us a recruitment fee after a student enrols. The fee is the same whichever partner you choose, so it never changes the advice you get. Our partner agreements are published on the awards page.

Can I apply to universities you do not represent?

Yes. We will still review your documents and advise you, and you submit the application directly. We will tell you if a partner offers a similar course at a better price.

What if I have a low CGPA or a backlog?

Many universities look at the whole profile: work experience, a strong SOP and the right English score. A counsellor will show you where you clear the bar and which foundation or pre-master’s routes are open if you do not.

How many universities should I apply to?

Usually four to six: one or two ambitious choices, two good fits and one safe option. More than that rarely improves your chances and costs you application fees.

TESTS

Which English test should I take?

IELTS is accepted almost everywhere. PTE is faster and accepted by most UK and Australian universities. Duolingo is cheap and quick but check acceptance first. Your counsellor will confirm what each university on your shortlist accepts.

What band do I actually need?

Most postgraduate courses ask for IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0. Some accept 6.0, and some ask for 7.0. Each course page shows the exact requirement.

Can I retake only one section?

Yes, IELTS One Skill Retake lets you retake a single section within 60 days, and most UK and Australian universities accept it. Check with your counsellor before you book.

Is coaching included in your fee?

Counselling is free. Test coaching is a separate course with its own fee, and you can study for your test anywhere you like.

MONEY

Do you charge to apply for scholarships?

No. We find the scholarships you qualify for and help with every application at no cost.

Will a scholarship reduce my visa funds requirement?

Usually yes. Tuition paid by an official scholarship is deducted from the money you must show, as long as the award letter states the amount.

What does premium counselling cost?

Premium counselling is a fixed fee agreed upfront and covers a named senior counsellor with priority turnaround. Ask any office for the current price.

When do I pay the university deposit?

After you accept an unconditional offer and before the university issues your CAS, I-20 or CoE. Deposits are paid directly to the university, never to us.

VISAS

How long does a decision take?

UK student visas usually take about three weeks from the biometrics appointment. Australia and Canada vary from two to eight weeks. Priority services are available for some routes.

How much money do I need to show?

It depends on the country and city. For the UK it is your first year’s unpaid tuition plus nine months of living costs. Each student visa page has the current figures.

What happens if I am refused?

We read the refusal letter with you, fix the problem and reapply when the file is genuinely stronger. Many of our students were refused once before coming to us.

Can my spouse apply with me?

It depends on the country and course. In the UK, only students on postgraduate research courses can bring dependants. Australia and Canada allow dependants on most courses.

AFTER YOU ARRIVE

Do I need a local guarantor for housing?

Not for university halls. Private landlords often ask for one; guarantor services or paying rent in advance are the usual alternatives. Our accommodation team will help.

Is health cover mandatory?

Yes, in most destinations. The UK charges the Immigration Health Surcharge with your visa; Australia requires OSHC; Canada and the US require provincial or university health insurance.

Can I work while studying?

Usually up to 20 hours a week during term and full time in holidays. Exact limits depend on the country and the level of your course.

What happens if I want to change course?

Talk to your university first. Changing course can affect your visa, so tell your counsellor before you switch and we will check what needs to be updated.
