Cover sorted before the visa is filed.

WHY IT MATTERS

No certificate, no visa — and the rules differ by country.

Australia requires OSHC for the full length of your visa. The UK charges an immigration health surcharge with the application itself. Canada, the US and much of Europe leave it to provinces, universities or private insurers. We work out which applies to you, compare the policies that actually qualify, and get the certificate into the file on time.

Cover that satisfies the visa office, bought correctly

Health cover is not an optional extra on most student visas. Australia requires OSHC for the full length of the visa. The United Kingdom charges an immigration health surcharge with the application itself. Canada, the United States and much of Europe leave it to provinces, universities or private insurers.

Buying the wrong scheme, or the right scheme for the wrong dates, means the certificate does not match the application — and that is a refusal or a delay for something entirely avoidable. We work out what applies to you, compare the policies that genuinely qualify, and get the evidence into the file on time.

WHAT WE HANDLE

The right scheme, bought the right way.

Cover is arranged alongside your visa file rather than after it, because the certificate is part of the application.

When does cover have to be in place?

Before the visa application is submitted, in most cases — not after approval and not on arrival. The certificate or payment receipt forms part of the evidence pack, and an application filed without it is incomplete. The policy start date matters as much as the purchase date. It should cover you from the day you arrive, not the day you bought it, and it must run for the full length of your visa rather than the length of your course. That distinction catches out a lot of self-filed applicants.

What the visa office checks

Case officers look at a small number of specific things. Each of them is easy to get right and expensive to get wrong.

  • ✓Name matchExactly as it appears on your passport and application
  • ✓Policy durationCovering the full visa period, not just the course
  • ✓Start dateActive from your arrival, with no gap
  • ✓Scheme eligibilityA provider approved for that country's student route
  • ✓Cover levelMeeting the minimum the destination specifies
  • ✓Proof formatA certificate or receipt, not a quotation or a screenshot

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Is health cover really mandatory?

For most student visas, yes. Australia will not grant a student visa without OSHC covering the full visa period. The United Kingdom collects the immigration health surcharge as part of the application, which then gives you NHS access. Canada varies by province, and the United States is usually set by the university's own requirement. The only common exception is a short course on a visitor route, and even then travel insurance is worth having.
